Charity

This year's District Charity, as selected by R.W. Bro. Sam Roberts is The Royal Ottawa Hospital Geriatric Psychiatry Program.

The Royal’s Geriatric Psychiatry Program assesses and treats mental illnesses experienced by adults over age 65. We work with older adults and their families to address the mental health challenges they are experiencing with aging.

Working together with patients, families (or substitute decision makers), primary care physicians, community psychiatrists, and community agencies, our interdisciplinary team aims to improve our patients’ quality of life so they can reach their highest possible level of recovery.

The Grand Master’s Charity is the Masonic Foundation of Ontario.

The Masonic Foundation of Ontario was expressly created to broaden Masonic Charity in Ontario beyond the confines of the fraternity and thereby to integrate Freemasonry into the community and give the community a greater awareness of the ideals of Freemasonry.

The Foundation was formed in 1964 by a special act of the Ontario Legislature. It is a public foundation and a registered charity. The objects of the Foundation are to receive, maintain, manage, control and use donations exclusively for charitable purposes within Ontario. The Foundation is permitted to use its donations for the relief of poverty, the advancement of education and the advancement of other purposes beneficial to the community (no capital projects). The Foundation is committed to funding bursaries, medical research, drug and substance abuse education and other specific community projects which fall within its guidelines.
